The Women in STEMM Alumni Society partnered with the Alumni Club of Detroit and The Ohio State University College of Engineering for Buckeyes Connect event in Detroit.
We had the opportunity to meet alumni from the Detroit area and introduce them to our society during a reception with delicious food and beverages. The event was held at LIFT (Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow), which is a public-private partnership to develop and deploy lightweight materials manufacturing technologies as part of the federal initiative Manufacturing USA. In 2014, the partnership of The Ohio State University, Edison Welding Institute and the University of Michigan won the solicitation by the Office of Naval Research to operate the lightweight materials initiative. LIFT is also actively engaged in education and training of the next generation of engineers. We also enjoyed a tour of the LIFT facility and their state-of-the-art equipment.
One of our society’s objectives is to expand our activities to alumni across the country, especially in technology-rich areas such as Detroit. We’re always looking for volunteers from around the country to serve as Ambassadors for the society in your area. If you are interested, please contact us!
